Studio City is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California, in the San Fernando Valley. Originally known as Laurelwood, It is named after the studio lot that was established in the area by film producer Mack Sennett in 1927, now known as CBS Studio Center. Home to many actors and musicians, Studio City has a rich nightlife, as well as many boutique shops and restaurants, many of which are found down Ventura Blvd. The community is also known for its proximity to the Santa Monica Mountains, featuring hiking and trail destinations such as Franklin Park and Fryman Canyon, as well as short drive over the hill to Beverly Hills. Studio City is also home to the Studio City Recreation Center (also known as Beeman Park), featuring baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, and barbecue areas, making it a local destination for recreation and family gatherings.
